The PADI Master Freediver Course is the ultimate step in recreational freediving education, designed for experienced freedivers ready to push their physical and mental boundaries. This course focuses on refining your skills, enhancing your breath-hold capacity, and developing the discipline required to dive deeper, longer, and with greater control.
Through focused theory, advanced breathing techniques, and in-water practice, you’ll build the performance and mindset of a high-level freediver — whether you’re pursuing personal bests or preparing for competitive training.
You can enrol in the PADI Master Freediver Course if:
- You are 18 years or older
- You hold a PADI Advanced Freediver certification (or equivalent)
- You’ve completed Emergency First Response CPR & First Aid training within the last 24 months
This course is divided into three in-depth phases:
- Knowledge Development
- Topics include nutrition, advanced relaxation, and breathing techniques
- Independent study via PADI Freediver eLearning
- Completion of a Master Freediver research assignment
- Confined Water Training
- Refine static and dynamic apnea techniques, including no-fins dynamic apnea
- Static apnea: 3 minutes, 30 seconds
- Dynamic apnea: 70 metres
- Open Water Sessions
- Practice free immersion and constant weight dives
- Perform warm-up and workup dives, focusing on mouth-fill equalization
- Goal: Constant weight freedive to 32 metres
- Access to PADI Master Freediver eLearning
- Instructor-led confined and open water sessions
- Coaching on advanced techniques and individual performance
- Use of freediving gear (if needed)
- Certification as a PADI Master Freediver
