Freediving is more than just diving without tanks — it’s about mindfulness, control, and a deeper connection to the underwater world. The PADI Freediver Course is your first step into this exciting and rewarding discipline. You’ll learn how to breathe efficiently, relax your body, and explore below the surface using only your breath-hold ability.
Whether you’re an experienced snorkeler or completely new to freediving, this course provides a solid foundation to build confidence, safety awareness, and skill through both confined and open water training.
You can enrol in the PADI Freediver Course if:
- You are 12 years or older
- You have basic swimming ability
- You are in good physical health
- No previous freediving, snorkeling, or skin diving experience is needed
Younger than 12? Kids aged 8+ can join our fun and engaging PADI Skin Diver Course instead.
The course includes three core phases:
- Knowledge Development
- Study independently with PADI Freediver eLearning, or via instructor-led theory sessions.
- Learn freediving principles, breathing techniques, and safety protocols.
- Confined Water Training
- Practice static apnea (breath-holding while still)
- Practice dynamic apnea (breath-holding while swimming)
- Learn effective buddy procedures
- Goal: 90-second static apnea + 25-meter dynamic apnea
- Open Water Sessions
- Perform free immersion and constant weight freedives
- Refine equalization and body positioning techniques
- Goal: Constant weight freedive to 10 meters
- Access to PADI Freediver eLearning
- Instructor-led pool and ocean sessions
- All necessary freediving equipment (if required)
- PADI certification upon successful completion
